On May 24 1738 John Wesley, “somewhat unwillingly” went to Aldersgate Street in London, England; to a meeting during which his life would be changed.

Up to this point he had been a devoted religious follower of Jesus. That evening he felt his heart “strangely warmed'' by God.  His life was empowered and he was to be God's instrument in the start of a new Christian movement - the Methodists.
